I didn’t realize this painting was in the @brooklynmuseum until I looked up and there it was. Perfectly tied together a few current threads in my life - reading The Black Count: the French Revolution, ages and ages of racism, and @kehindewiley ‘s work. In researching bits from the book I found an essay on this painting (link in bio) and *snap* there I stood. Serendipity sounds like too frivolous a word but it’s where I’m at.
